What is Bharata Natyam?

Bharata Natyam is an ancient South Indian Classical Dance form that is over 2000 years old. It combines rhythm, body movements, and facial expressions. The themes of the dances in Bharata Natyam are from the Hindu religion and mythology. The graceful expressions follow the mood created by the melodious tunes from classical music.

Mastery of this dance form requires many years of mental and physical discipline. Bharata Natyam is an outward physical expression of inner spiritual feelings. Ultimately, Bharata Natyam is a dance form to align the mind, body, and spirit!
